Kolik toho zmůže jedna zarputilá pracující matka proti politikům a developerům a jejich plánu na gentrifikaci její milované čtvrti v centru New Yorku? Inspirativní příběh o dlouhodobém boji aktivistky Frances Goldin za právo na bydlení. Vše začalo v roce 1959, kdy město New York oznámilo, že vysídlí přes 2 000 rodin dělnické třídy a imigrantů a desítky podniků z oblasti Cooper Square na Manhattanu s cílem uvolnit místo pro nové developerské projekty. Po stovkách komunitních setkání se Frances a jejím sousedům podařilo něco dosud nevídaného – udrželi dostupné bydlení v samotném srdci města.

How much can one tenacious working mother do against politicians and developers and their plan to gentrify her beloved downtown New York neighborhood? The inspiring story of activist Frances Goldin's long struggle for the right to housing. It all began in 1959, when New York City announced it would evict over 2,000 working-class and immigrant families and dozens of businesses from the Cooper Square area of Manhattan to make way for new development projects. After hundreds of community meetings, Frances and her neighbors succeeded in doing something unprecedented - preserving affordable housing in the heart of the city.
